Why does it always rain on me?
Here are my reasons for this:
Recently I had to shoot a student film on location in the hall behind my local church. I had booked to use the hall from 1.30pm - 6pm which would have given myself and my fabulous film crew plenty of time to film everything that we needed to. When I arrived at the church the weather was already quite overcast but considering we were going to be indoors i really wasn't that worried. When i got inside however, things just started to fall apart. First of all there was a Spanish group already in the hall who were having their end of year Christmas function. They were supposed to be out of the hall by 1pm but they didn't leave until bloody 2pm which threw my whole time schedule out the door! There was also mess everywhere (tables, chairs, food and decorations) so by the time we cleared the hall and got set up we were already way behind our time schedule. Then after about 15 minutes of filming we were welcomed with another not so pleasant surprise! Two men from the church came into the hall and told us that we had to leave because they needed to set up for the church's annual Christmas carols!!! I couldn't believe it, there was a DOUBLE BOOKING!!!
So then we had no alternative other then to film outside. It was already starting to lightly sprinkle (rain, if you're not quite sure) when we ventured out into the car park, but we tried to continue none the less. Even though it was freezing cold all was going fine for a while. I mean I was annoyed that I had to change my storyline and shots because I had planned all of my shots to be in different parts of the hall, but I was happy with how we were battling through it.
Now you would think that after all of those problems we would just be able to get our film finished, right??? But oh no wait for it, we had just one more problem .... the friggin heaven's literally opened up above and we had heavy like torrential rain, with lightning and the works! Haha we nearly got washed away, and i am not exaggerating at all! So that was my first problem with the rain.
A week or two before that however, I also had another encounter with a shower ... this time of a deadly kind! I was out west with my sister at one of the new shopping malls that had just opened. We were just standing outside out in the open when all of a sudden there was like a freak hail storm!!!!! It just came out of nowhere, because the rest of the day was literally boiling hot! It was the craziest thing i've ever seen, like one of those really scary storms in the film "The Day after Tomorrow"!!! The sky literally went black within a few minutes, then came heavy rain and about 30seconds later hail stones the size of cricket balls!!!! There were people screaming and running for cover and the hail stones were just crashing down and smashing windows, bouncing off buildings, etc.... just INSANE!!! On the news that night the reporters said that the area we were in was the worst affected. Of course ... lucky us! Haha, or should i say unlucky.
I don't know but if you ask me it seems a bit weird that I've been caught out in two really freaky storms within a few weeks of each other. Maybe the universe is trying to tell me something or perhaps I'm being punished for something i did in a past life? Or maybe I'm just reading too much into this! Haha, let me know what you think?
My final words to the big blue above ... stop raining on my parade!
They don’t call him ‘Sir’ for nothing!
After getting all dazzled up, my mum (who I went to the concert with) and I decided to take a train out to the concert venue. This seemed like a good idea in terms of getting to the concert as quickly as possible but proved to be a very bad choice! Firstly, the train was absolutely packed and there were no seats, meaning we had to stand. Now when wearing three inch high heels, this is not a good position to be stuck in. So you’re probably thinking “Jeez ‘drama queen’ didn’t you learn anything from the last concert you attended, in regards to OH&S (Occupational Health and Safety) issues and high heels?” In my defense however they were really nice shoes and besides an Elton John concert is more of a chilled out, sit down event as opposed to a hard core rock concert (where flat shoes would be required) haha enough said! So there I was swaying around the carriage trying not to fall over, with my mum also holding onto me because she’s a total germ freak too (refer to first blog – “Life of a germ freak”) and didn’t want to hold on to the filthy metal hand rails. And then just my luck, this seemingly innocent Indonesian man standing beside us started to make conversation. All seemed fine until he stated that there were “too many Chinese people on the train and that they should all be blown up!” I was absolutely horrified, not only at how incredibly racist this man was but also by the possibility that he was perhaps contemplating blowing up the train. His evil laugh also did not help to convince me otherwise. Needless to say, it was not the greatest way to start the evening!
The rest of the night however was a lot better!!!
When we first got to the concert venue, we bought some merchandise - program, concert dvd, and a cd of Elton’s greatest hits, etc. We then took our seats and listened to the supporting act which was 18 year old singer Eran James. He performed songs from his latest album “Ten Songs About Love”. I actually really liked his style of signing / performing. He’s a bit like Michael Buble meets David Campbell, meets well … Eran James! hahaha.
In terms of highlights, well every song was amazing. Elton performed so many of his hit songs but I particularly loved:
The opening song which was “Your song” – it took me back to Moulin Rouge where
Ewan McGregor serenades Nicole Kidman. I just love that movie!
“Rocket Man”
“Tiny Dancer” – one of my favourite songs, used in one of my all time favourite
movies – Almost Famous, love it!
“Bennie and the Jets”
“Electricity” – from the Billy Elliot Musical, it was amazing! I can’t wait to see that
show!
“Circle of life” from The Lion King. That movie was made for such wonderful lions as
myself. I’m such a proud Leo, I love long walks on the beach, sunsets … haha.
And ballads that make you want to cry, they’re just soo good!
“Candle in the Wind” – Elton’s performance of this song brought tears to my eyes
thinking about Princess Diana and Marilyn Monroe, such sad and tragic
deaths!
“Sorry seems to be the hardest word”
“Don’t let the sun go down over me”

A belated Happy New Year to you all!
Well my goodness it has been some time since I last graced you all with my presence. So I would firstly like to begin this post by wishing you all a very Happy New Year!!! I hope life is truly treating you very well and that 2008 brings a great deal of happiness and joy into all of your lives. As for me, well what can I say? Life has been really hectic lately, you know how it is - places to go, people to meet. Oh the life of a celebrity, it’s hard being so fabulous! Haha, a girl can dream can’t she???
Well anyways, I figured that since I haven’t blogged in so long, the best way to get back into ‘the swing of things’ so to speak, is to discuss all that I have been up to lately.
Well where do I start? Hmm … I suppose Christmas would be a good place. Overall I had a really nice Christmas break. I caught up with some old friends, spent a few lazy days on the beach and also had some much needed therapy … of the retail kind!!! Hahaha, retail therapy that’s such a girly saying I know, but seriously it really is amazing how good a new pair of shoes for example (particularly high heels in my opinion) can make you feel. I also did the whole traditional thing of putting up decorations everywhere around my house (haha, you can never ever have enough fairy lights and tinsel … EVER!!!), as well as watching the Christmas Carols with my family. Nothing really beats belting out to “Jingle Bells” or “Rocking around the Christmas Tree” with those you love most.
As a Catholic I also attended a Christmas mass at my local church on Christmas Eve. The highlight was definitely seeing all of the little kids dressed up as angels, kings, shepherds, etc. It really brought back memories of when I was at primary school and we did the same thing. We of course thought we looked so great wearing our angel wings and dresses, and sheets / tea towels (for the shepherds). I’m not so sure however that I would go that far these days, but those kids were so cute that they could pull off any outfit (even if it was made from bits and pieces belonging to their home linen closet). And finally of course I spent Christmas day as per usual with my family. We had a nice relaxed day by the pool at my cousin’s house and I can proudly say that I did my fair share of eating at lunch, oh and dinner and umm, did I mention ….DESSERT!!! Seconds anyone??? I vote YES!
Oh and then came New Years Eve which is always a lot of fun. I had an awesome night in the city with a great view of the fireworks from directly in front of the
So now we are in 2008! I don’t know about anyone else out there but I always find the first few months of a new year to be quite strange, especially when I have to write the date down. It’s like you get so used to writing a certain year eg: “07” and then BAM, all of a sudden there’s this strange new number in your life that you have to gradually get used to, haha it’s just weird! (Or perhaps maybe I’m just a bit strange, I don’t know. Does anyone out there agree???)
Anyways, with a new year there is also one thing that is always guaranteed, and that is New Year’s resolutions. For example: “I must learn to put down the chocolate cake and get to a gym pronto!” Well like most people, I also wouldn’t mind getting back into a solid exercise routine not just to work off those ‘unwanted Christmas kilos’ (Bahaha, how many times has that phrase been used, way too many!) but to just be healthier in general. Overall however, I just hope that 2008 will be a really happy and exciting year, not just for myself but for everyone.
Well until next time,
Au revoir.

My Night with Mr. Flowers!

So I went to see The Killers live in concert last Sunday night and my God they were awesome!!!! Like totally!!!! God I must sound like such a ditz right now, oh well what can I say, I'm just like their biggest fan ever! So here's how my night panned out. I got to the venue and met up with one of my gal pals who also wouldn't mind having the title of Mrs. Flowers! We got chocolate ice cream with Maltesers (mmm...yummy, could go for some of that right about now actually, No Wait, …Must Concentrate… Must Keep...BLOGGING! Repeat to yourself "You are stronger then the pull of the chocolate! Get it together girlfriend!!!” Ahh, maybe just a quick visit to the fridge wouldn't hurt…would it?!). Anyway we then took a few photos because that's what you do when you look totally fabulous! And then we ended up inside to get a drink. And it was there in the line to get an alcoholic beverage that we encountered one seriously freaky individual! There was this guy standing behind us and he looked a bit trashed and I swear he was like 35, gross and a total sleaze, but that didn't stop him from trying to start up a conversation with us and insulting me in the process - telling me how a tiny freckle on my arm would eventually turn into a melanoma! (Jeez he seriously had no idea how to chat someone up and well let's face it, he really had no chance anyway!!!!) I was tres (French for very, if you're not sure, hehe) impressed however with my bud telling him where to go, it was one of the highlights of my evening, haha go you fiesty woman! (I won't repeat what she said, but I also think we soo should've thrown our drinks over that creep! But then that would've been a bit of a waste now, wouldn’t it?!).
Anyway moving on, after the supporting acts my man graced the stage with the rest of his awesome band! The whole show was great except for the fact that we had pretty shit tickets! Get this, we lined up at Ticketmaster and got our tickets at 9.02 am and the best seats we could get were like right up the top to the side of the stage (haha, if you can visualise it, it was pretty crap!). So all I could really see was the back of Brandon's head (where's the justice in that!) and then I found out later that one of my other friends won tickets that were right in front of the stage in the middle (oh I was soo jealous!!!). Anyway

I must say however that I was pretty disappointed with the behaviour of some of the people in the crowd - especially the people standing near us. They all seemed like they had never really been to a concert before and didn’t really get into it. I was like get excited you idiots!! They really didn’t deserve to be in the presence of my man Mr. Flowers! I actually think they would’ve been better off sitting at home with gran knitting for the evening- maybe that would’ve been a bit more exciting for them! Not that there’s anything wrong with all of those lovely seniors out there who enjoy a bit of good old fashioned knitting, I certainly don’t want to offend any of them. I’m merely trying to make a point about the boring zombies that were standing around barely even nodding their heads at the concert! You know I was even jumping around like a crazy woman (or at least attempting to) in three inch high heels! Why in God’s name was I wearing them in the first place you ask? Well, firstly they totally vamped up my outfit and secondly, I guess I just wanted to impress
So that’s basically it really. Overall, I had a great night - apart from the sleazy creep, shit tickets, stupid crowd and nearly getting hit by a freakin tram afterwards! (Those things are so bloody quiet that at night time they are potentially DEADLY! I swear I saw my entire life flash before my eyes, well…not really, hahaha, but it sounds more dramatic to say so, don’t you think? Hehehehe). I honestly had a fabulous time though, with one seriously hot and I mean HOT man singing to me, aah bliss!!!!! Needless to say, I slept well that night! “Why yes
Well until next blog, keep smiling and dreaming of Mr. Flowers - I know I will!
(Ooh, too cute! hehe)

The Life of a Germ Freak!
Firstly, I would just like to say to those of you who read this particular post and think that it's totally hilarious that I am so obsessed with staying away from germs, that you should stop for a second and think about the fact that you are probably the ones who are swimming in your own filth and coughing on other people on the bus and infecting them with disease! How disgusting!!! It is because of people such as yourselves that my mum and I have been sick for the past week, shame on you! I however do not want to evoke emotions such as anger or murderous rage within you upon reading this. I would simply like to just inspire you to become a cleaner individual and be more considerate of others, that would be lovely thanks!
So here's the low down on my little obsession. While I totally accept the fact that there are billions of germs roaming around out there, I don't by any means have a desire to come into contact with more then is necessary. So first of all, upon leaving my lovely clean house every morning I come into contact with enemy number one, PUBLIC TRANSPORT!!!! My God, is there anything worse!! There are soo many things I can't stand about being on a bus for instance. Most annoying is the way that I always seem to get stuck beside someone who's like coughing up their insides to the point where it's like, jeezz go see a doctor or your lungs will probably collapse because they're full of soo much crap! (or mucus if you prefer, mmmm...yummy! NOT!!!) Or they do the good old sneeze and spray shit all over the back of your neck, to which i reply with one of the following: a) give them a seriously sharp death stare (and imagine myself slapping them in the face or throwing something at them -in my mind of course!), b) cringe for a second and then turn around and either say "You know you should really get that checked out" or, "Do you fucking mind! Didn't your parents ever teach you to cover your mouth!!" and finally c) get up and move away from that disgraceful person! I swear it's like soo many people today just don't know the basics like covering their mouth when coughing or sneezing.
It is because of such behaviour that I can't even hold onto anything on a bus if I have to stand because all the seats are taken. I don't know if anyone's noticed but all of the handle bars, etc just feel really greasy and when i think about what's on them i just can't bring myself to hold on. My friends of course think it's totally hilarious watching me a) trying to balance like a surfer by not holding onto anything and b) falling on people when the bus jerks (haha, i think guys seem to love that one, some actually think i fall on them on purpose, hehe if they only knew how many different types of bacteria were crawling all over them!). I sometimes even hesitate to press the button to get off the bus. I usually wait to see if someone else will press it first and if not then i hit it at the last second! I sometimes think it would be hilarious if I actually missed my stop over germs on the buttons!!! Oh oh and one more thing which really grossed me out almost to the point of puking! Witnessing people clip their nails on the bus, come on that's just plain wrong, if you're reading this and you haven't agreed with a word I've said so far you at least have to concur with me on that one!!
Well after my epic journey on the bus, if it's a week day i usually end up at uni which = fun fun! (most of the time anyways! hehe) What's my problem there you ask? My God the toilets are foul! I usually try to avoid going anywhere near them at all costs, unless it's an emergence or i'm having a bad hair day eg: after getting caught in the rain and then i have to go and check what's going on! Well what can i say it's definitely a hard task entering such a place, i basically don't touch any of the doors, etc, without having a piece of paper towel in my hand. My peeps always joke that if there was no paper towel i'd just have to wait until someone opened the exit door to get out because there would be no way in hell i'd touch the doors at those toilets!! And you know why? Because i have been in there on a number of occasions and watched people come straight out of the toilet and just walk out without washing their hands, i tell you it's a horrifying sight, very traumatic indeed!! As a person who has perfected the art of washing my hands (must been the cleanest person i know, hehe) i find it really distressing to see such a thing. Some people also make a half assed attempt to wash their hands by blasting the tap for a second without using soap and then they flick the excess water everywhere, half the time landing on me! Fuck that pisses me off! It's like common decency and hygiene etiquette don't exist with some people!!! And i really don't want to offend anyone with this next comment or appear to be racist at all (because i respect people from all cultural backgrounds and a lot of my really close friends are from Asia, Europe, etc) but i have noticed that a lot of international students in particular don't wash their hands with soap or simply don't wash them at all! I've stopped people on a number of occasions and been like are you going to come back and wash your hands, and they just look back at me like "Huh?" - Ridiculous i say! I swear it's like some cultures aren't brought up to wash their hands, it's just wrong, WRONG!!!! And you wonder why i won't touch the door handles and why people end up with food poisoning from eating at restaurants particularly from places such as sushi restaurants.
Which brings me to my next point and that's eating out. I know that alot of my friends love to eat eg: sushi and that's totally fine, i'm not arguing by any means that people should not go to sushi restaurants or eat Thai food or whatever else tickles their pickle! All i know is that i have heard one too many stories on the news and from family and friends about people getting infected and sick from ingesting eg: eccoli, etc, after dining at such places and to me it just ain't worth the risk! Give me some home cooked stir-fry or some pasta at an Italian restaurant and that'll make my day! I just can't really stomach much else- eg: i recently thought i'd be brave and fit in with the people i was out with by going with the flow and having some Mexican food. All was going well until I woke up at about 4am the next morning and vomited everywhere (so not my most attractive hour!). All I can say is NEVER AGAIN!
I would really however, like to reinforce the fact here that i am not against food from any particular country or restaurants from any specific cultural background. Of course i know that there are good and bad restaurants out there from every nation! For me though, i have to be really careful about where i go and i don't think it's wrong to be fussy and not want to end up throwing up in the wee hours of the morning from dining out! It just shits me up the wall that there are places out there that hold no regard for the health of the patrons dining in their restaurants. Not happy Jane, at all!
Well if you've managed to read this far, i commend you and by now you're probably thinking what a freak!! Hahahahaha, and that's totally understandable i guess. But i would like to point out that i do not however have OCD (Obsessive Compulsive Disorder), or anything else for that matter. I'm just a person who likes other people to wash their hands (PROPERLY!!!!) and not cough all over me on a confined bus where i can't easily get away from them. I don't think it's too much to expect this from people and I certainly don't think that i should have to be someone's mother and call them back to the sink to get them to wash their hands!
All I can say is that until i see some changes in the germ infested society that i live in, i'm going to have to continue living in my protected bubble!!! Hahaha, laugh all you want, but i'm perfectly happy there!
Crikey this has been a long post! I'm soo tired now and you must be exhausted from reading it! But i seriously had to write something otherwise my teacher (as i'm doing this blog as a uni assignment, yep that's right, fun, fun! I'm actually getting marked on this believe it or not!) would've been soo angry! I haven't been able to write before this though because my damn internet connection has been playing up for soo long and i've been sick (thanks to some inconsiderate person who felt the need to share their disease! It's call spread the love dude, not the bacteria!!!) Anyways i promise that my posts will be more interesting / light hearted, etc from now on (well i'll try anyways), but i just really had to get all of that off my chest!
Finally, all i can say is thank God for the new Detol germ killing hand lotion - i swear those scientists had me in mind when they were creating that stuff - "You can't touch this, nah nah nah nah, oh oh, you can't touch this..." (hehe, if you haven't seen the advertisement i'm sure you're thinking what is this person on - try ANTIBIOTICS! Hahahahahah).
Well until my next post, keep smiling and the next time someone sneezes on you on a bus, train, whatever, feel free to give them a slap from me! : )
P.S Feel free to comment me on this, i would love to know if there's anyone else out there who's as enraged as me over this particular issue!!!
